Rangers have stepped up their search for a new manager and Director of Football.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are likely to keep Graeme Murty in charge for the Old Firm clash against Celtic on March 12th.

The Gers saw manager Mark Warburton resign earlier this month, and with both David Weir and Frank McParland also leaving their posts as assistant manager and head of recruitment respectively.

Rangers now face a period of major change, with the club not only looking to appoint a new manager, but also bring in a Director of Football to help the club move towards a more modern structure.

Now, The Scottish Sun report that Rangers are in no rush to appoint a new manager despite conducting interviews this week, as Graeme Murty looks set to stay in the job for a number of weeks yet.

Murty, 42, had been brought in to coach Rangers’ youngsters earlier this season, but has been thrust into the role of caretaker manager since Warburton’s exit, and has overseen the last two games.

Whilst he won his first game with a 2-1 victory over Morton, Murty saw Rangers lose 2-1 to Dundee on Sunday afternoon, but will allegedly stay in charge for the Old Firm derby against Celtic on March 12th.

It’s added that the club’s pursuit of a Director of Football is progressing, and whilst Brentford’s Robert Rowan appears to be out of the race, Tottenham’s Paul Mitchell remains a target.

Former Southampton scout and current Spurs head of recruitment Mitchell tendered his resignation last summer but is almost half way through a 16-month notice period at White Hart Lane, and Rangers are reportedly keen on the 35-year-old with Southampton’s Ross Wilson yet to make a decision about a move to Ibrox.
