According to the Daily Record, Rangers are poised to snap up Hamilton Academical midfielder Greg Docherty, with a medical coming up on Thursday.

The Gers have been busy in the January transfer window, handing a permanent deal to loanee Declan John before landing Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings on loan from English clubs.

Even with four new faces snapped up, Rangers aren’t done just yet, and they have been pressing to sign Hamilton Academical ace Greg Docherty over the last week.

Rangers have already failed with one bid in the region of £300,000 for Docherty, but the Daily Record now report that a £650,000 deal has been agreed this week.

It’s claimed that Docherty will be undergoing a medical with Rangers on Thursday, and he should be confirmed as Graeme Murty’s fifth new signing of the transfer window.

Docherty, 21, has come up through the ranks with Hamilton, and has already racked up more than 100 first-team appearances for the Accies having impressed under Martin Canning.

Docherty’s superb displays this season have now earned him a move to Rangers, which will be something of a dream for the midfielder given that he was a boyhood Gers fan.

With a week to go until the end of the transfer window, Rangers are set to confirm signing number five – and it remains to be seen whether Murty lands anybody else in the coming days.
