According to Deadline News, Hibernian teenager Murray Johnson has picked a trial with Manchester City over Everton.

It’s claimed that Johnson headed down to City’s Etihad Campus on Monday in order to begin training with their youth setup.

City scouts have been monitoring Johnson for some time now, and already has three Scotland Under-16 caps to his name.

Everton also wanted to take a look at Johnson, but he has picked City for now as he considered a move to England in the near future.

Hibs are seeking a six-figure fee for Johnson having signed his first senior contract last month, which shouldn’t be an issue for City.

City do have a young goalkeeper with a bright future in Gavin Bazunu, so Johnson needs to think about the competition for places with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Everton may be able to offer a better pathway to first-team football as things stand, but City are difficult to turn down.

Johnson doesn’t have long to impress City, and Everton will surely be keeping tabs on his situatoon with their Premier League rivals.
