Newcastle United’s new owners have been told to appoint Antonio Conte by multiple sources, the Athletic report.
Conte to Newcastle?
With Conte out of work and Newcastle now one of the richest club in the world, following a successful takeover bid last week, the pair have immediately been linked.
Conte would be an eye catching appointment for Newcastle’s owners to make, given his reputation in the footballing world.
And it seems that Newcastle’s buyers have been tipped off about Conte’s quality.
The Athletic say that the Italian has been recommended to the Magpies by multiple people already.
Newcastle haven’t actually officially parted company with Steve Bruce yet, but it seems like the 60-year-old is on borrowed time.
A big upgrade?
Given their respective CV’s it would be hard to argue that Conte would be anything but a major upgrade.

The Italian won the Serie A title with Inter Milan last year and also has a Premier League title in his trophy cabinet, which he won with Chelsea.
The only concern is that Conte typically thrives off working with experience, elite level performers.
And right now Newcastle don’t have too many of those in their current squad.
