West Ham United have reportedly joined the race to sign Norwich City playmaker James Maddison.
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United boss David Moyes watched Norwich City playmaker James Maddison in action against Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
Norwich played out a 0-0 draw with Chelsea in their Third Round FA Cup tie earlier this month, meaning they had to travel to Stamford Bridge for the reply on Wednesday, and they had quite the dramatic night in West London.
The Canaries fell behind to Michy Batshuayi’s opener before Jamal Lewis’ 94th equaliser sent the game to extra time, with Blues forwards Pedro and Alvaro Morata both receiving late red cards.
Chelsea went through in the end, winning 5-3 on penalties after Willy Caballero saved Nelson Oliveira’s spot kick, and whilst Norwich can be proud of their performance, they will be hoping that playmaker James Maddison didn’t impress too much.
The Daily Mail report that West Ham United boss David Moyes was at the game, and he was not only watching Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, but also Canaries star Maddison.
Maddison, 21, has hit seven goals and five assists in 25 Championship games this season, with the former Coventry City youngster playing a starring role under Daniel Farke.
The attacking midfielder is now in demand, with the London Evening Standard claiming that he could cost around £20million amid strong interest from Premier League clubs.
West Ham now appear to be on the verge of joining that race, and could swoop in this month given that the report states that Tottenham Hotspur may wait until the end of the season to firm up their interest in the youngster.
