According to The Sun, West Ham United are interested in striking an ambitious January deal for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
It’s claimed that Lyon are prepared to sell Dembele in January, with suggestions that he is frustrated at his recent bench role.
David Moyes is believed to be a huge fan of Dembele, and the striker may be tempted to return to London having previously played for Fulham.
Manchester United are keen too, but the £30million needed to land him may yet be an issue for West Ham.
The Hammers are thought to have money to spend in January having been frugal over the summer, but whether they can afford Dembele remains to be seen.
Dembele, 24, joined Lyon from Celtic in 2018, and has been prolific with 44 goals in 95 games for the club, with his Ligue 1 record particularly impressive.
Dembele is quick, strong and deadly in front of goal, possessing the dangerous blend of being able to play with his back to goal or run in behind, whilst he has been likened to Didier Drogba in the past – Brendan Rodgers made that comparison in 2016.
Sebastien Haller would surely be at risk if West Ham move for Dembele, and the Hammers may well be tempted to offer the striker to Lyon as part-exchange for the ex-Celtic hero.
