West Ham United boss David Moyes wants the signing of James Tarkowski completed within the next 48 hours, the Telegraph say.
West Ham are due to open their season with a game against Newcastle United, and Moyes is hoping that Tarkowski will be available to pick for that match.
West Ham have now submitted a £30 million offer to Burnley for their defender, and are hoping that will be enough to secure the deal.
Burnley had previously valued Tarkowski at £50 million, but West Ham feel that they can get a discount in the current market.
If the England international does sign he may well come straight into West Ham’s defence.
Moyes seemingly has made the centre-back his very top target, and it is easy to see why.

Tarkwoski has been rock solid over a number of years at Burnley, and would surely prove more reliable than West Ham’s current options.
Both Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop have their plus points, but they can be prone to errors, and there is a feeling that Tarkowski’s arrival would make West Ham a much tougher side to beat.
