According to The Mirror (27/09, p70), West Ham United boss David Moyes wants to reunite with Everton defender Seamus Coleman.

It’s claimed that Moyes is a big admirer of Coleman, and now wants to lure him to East London before the October transfer deadline.

Moyes thinks Coleman has the ‘experience and leadership’ to solve West Ham’s defensive issues, and hopes Everton will be open to selling.

The Irishman still has two years left on his deal, but with Everton looking at other right backs, West Ham hope the Toffees will facilitate a deal.

The 31-year-old has spent more than 11 years at Goodison Park, racking up 322 appearances for the club whilst chipping in with 26 goals.

Moyes worked with Coleman at Goodison Park, and he has made no secret of his admiration for Coleman in the past – and it went both ways.

Coleman told Goal in 2015 that Moyes was ‘great’ with him, teaching him so much at Everton even though he was a ‘tough operator’ during their time together.

West Ham are looking for competition at right back, and Coleman could be that player – but after a fine start to the season, Everton may well be reluctant to let him go.
