West Ham United are keen on Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham but can’t afford him, according to the London Evening Standard.
Abraham may well be put up for sale by Chelsea in the summer, and West Ham have previously been admirers of him.
But the Standard say that he is likely to prove ‘too expensive’ for the Hammers to buy.
West Ham also want to improve in other areas of the squad, which means that they may have to look elsewhere when recruiting a number nine.
Arsenal Eddie Nketiah could be a cheaper option, who David Moyes is reportedly also keen on.
The latest update may come as a disappointment to West Ham fans, as Abraham could have been an appealing option.
Despite falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel, the powerful striker, who Jack Grealish called ‘unbelievable’, has proven his ability to score at the top level.
Abraham was Chelsea’s top scorer last season, and his presence could have offered a very useful outlet to West Ham up-front, with their current striking options extremely limited.
