According to O Jogo, Leeds United have asked for information about a potential deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario.

It’s claimed that Inter aren’t counting on Joao Mario this season, and are willing to let him leave before the October transfer deadline.

Three Premier League clubs have allegedly made contact about signing the Portuguese ace, with Leeds one of them.

Newcastle are another team in the race, whilst West Ham United are interested too, which won’t be a huge surprise for Hammers fans.

David Moyes brought Joao Mario on loan to West Ham in January 2018, and he scored twice in 14 games for the Hammers, with a reunion now targeted.

Galatasaray, Valencia and Real Betis are keen too, but it seems that a move to the Premier League is more likely right now, with a €13million (£12million) asking price on his head.

The 27-year-old bagged one goal and five assists in 18 games on loan at Lokomotiv Moscow last season, and his versatility is likely very attractive.

Joao Mario can play on either flank, centrally or as a number 10, and his technical ability means he could provide the creativity Marcelo Bielsa is seeking.

Inter paid a whopping £38.4million for Joao Mario in 2016, meaning they would now be taking a £26million loss on him just to get him off the books – and Leeds could be sensing a bargain, though that rival interest means there could be a real battle.
