According to The Mirror (03/01, p72), West Ham United boss David Moyes is keen to bring Marko Arnautovic back to the club.

It’s claimed that Moyes is in the market for a new striker in January, and wants to revisit a potential deal to re-sign the Austrian.

West Ham allegedly looked into re-signing Arnautovic last January, but no deal was struck as the global pandemic was just emerging in China.

The Hammers want to take Arnautovic on loan until the end of the season, given that the Chinese season ended back in November.

Yet in order to sign the Shanghai SIPG ace, West Ham would have to sign Craig Dawson or Said Benrahma permanently, as they can’t have more than two loanees at once.

That could be a problem for West Ham, but Moyes will hope that a reunion is enough to convince Arnautovic to come back to East London.

The 31-year-old thrived under Moyes in the 2017-18 season, racking up 11 goals and six assists in 26 appearances under the Scot.

Arnautovic left for Shanghai SIPG in July 2019, but if Moyes gets his way, the Austrian will end up spending the rest of the season back at the London Stadium.
