According to The Telegraph, West Ham United boss David Moyes is interested in signing Bournemouth defender Adam Smith.

It’s claimed that Moyes is still in the market for a right back, but is keen on adding an option that can play on either side.

Smith is now one player being targeted by Moyes to fill that role, having suffered relegation with Bournemouth.

Smith, 29, came up through the Tottenham academy and made just two first-team appearances for West Ham’s rivals before heading to Bournemouth in January 2014.

The defender has now made 116 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth, scoring five goals in that time.

Smith actually played against West Ham on Saturday afternoon, and scored as Bournemouth beat the Hammers 5-3 at the London Stadium.

Additionally, Smith was born in Leytonstone, which is only a stone’s throw away from the London Stadium in Stratford.

Heading to West Ham may become appealing to Smith for that very reason, as it would allow him to return home to London whilst also playing in the Premier League again.

Smith’s ability to play at left back will be appealing to Moyes as he can bring the versatility that West Ham need – and he may not break the bank given his age and Bournemouth’s relegation.
