According to the Daily Record, Sunderland are in talks to land Norwich City striker Steven Naismith, with a reunion with David Moyes on the cards.

The Black Cats are expected to be one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs as the transfer window enters its final day, with manager David Moyes desperately looking for new additions after just one point in the first three games.

Moyes has already reunited with midfielder Steven Pienaar and winger Adnan Januzaj this summer, and re-signing another of his former players appears to a possibility.

The Daily Record report that Sunderland are in talks with Norwich City over a deal for attacker Steven Naismith, with the move believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £6m.

Naismith, 29, was signed by Moyes at Everton back in 2012 having hit 33 goals in 140 games for Rangers, and he became a reliable first-team player during his once season under Moyes’ management.

With four goals in 31 Premier League games, Naismith enjoyed a solid campaign under Moyes, and ended up leaving Everton for Norwich in January, departing Goodison Park with 25 goals in 123 games to his name.

The Scotland international suffered relegation with the Canaries and now could be on the verge of a return to the Premier League, with Sunderland keen to complete his signature before tonight’s deadline having opened talks over a £6m deal.

Sunderland are also looking to sign Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy, meaning a double deal could be on the cards for the Black Cats in the final hours of the transfer window.
