According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United boss David Moyes still thinks that he can convince James Tarkowski to leave Burnley.
It’s claimed that West Ham have lodged a bid of £27million for Tarkowski, with talks ongoing with Burnley.
After selling winger Grady Diangana to West Bromwich Albion, Moyes wants to reinvest the cash in a new defender rather than another attacking player.
Burnley allegedly want £50million for Tarkowski, and currently have ‘no intention’ of negotiating down from that release clause given the difficulty of replacing him.
Still, Moyes thinks he can persuade Tarkowski into making the move, and much will depend on whether West Ham can actually get Burnley to accept an offer.
The Hammers don’t have a huge budget to work with this summer, so there seems to be no chance of them reaching that £50million release clause.

Tarkowski, 27, has starred in the Premier League with Burnley, becoming one of the division’s most dependable centre backs whilst also picking up two England caps.
He has though spent most of his career in the north; he was born in Manchester, and has been with Blackburn Rovers, Maine Road, Oldham Athletic and Burnley, though he did have a stint in London with Brentford.
Tempting him back to the capital may be tricky, but Moyes seemingly believes West Ham have a real chance.
