David Moyes is ‘pushing hard’ for West Ham United to sign Newcastle United-linked Jesse Lingard this summer, it has been reported.
Jesse Lingard to West Ham United has been a transfer rumour that’s dominated the last couple of transfer windows for the Hammers.
Moyes tried and failed to bring the England international back to East London last summer, after the player shone during a half-season loan under the Scot from Manchester United during the 2020-21 campaign.
Earlier this summer, Newcastle, another club regularly linked to signing the Red Devil – who’s about to be released at Old Trafford – were reported to have made the player a stronger offer than the Irons [90 Min].
However, 90 Min has reported that Moyes is urging West Ham’s hierarchy to get this over the line by offering him a contract of what would equate to around £100,000 per week.
The report mentions the Magpies, but that it’s ‘unlikely’ at this stage that he’ll be joining the St James’s Park outfit or even AC Milan.
It’s been a very decent window for West Ham thus far.
Earlier this week, Moyes snapped up goalkeeper Alphonse Areola from Paris Saint-Germain, having already signed Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, too.
Adding Lingard to the mix would be a very decent piece of business as well, by virtue of the fact that he’s a free agent.
Nine Premier League goals in only 16 appearances during the 2020-21 campaign illustrates that the former Manchester United manager knows how to get the very best out of Lingard and no doubt he’ll pick up where he left off in East London over a year ago.
