According to The Sun (02/03/2017), Sunderland manager David Moyes made a trip to Ewood Park earlier this week in order to watch Blackburn Rovers attacker Sam Gallagher.
Rovers took on Derby County at Ewood Park on Tuesday night, and claimed a precious 1-0 win in their battle against relegation, as Craig Conway’s penalty sealed all three points for Tony Mowbray’s side.
It was striker Sam Gallagher who won the penalty having been brought down by Alex Pearce in front of goal, with the young forward continuing to impress for Rovers this season.
Gallagher, 21, has hit ten goals in 32 games for Rovers since arriving on loan from Southampton last summer, and it seems that his performances are triggering major interest.
The Sun (02/03/2017) reported that Sunderland boss David Moyes made a trip to Ewood Park to see Gallagher in action against Derby this week ahead of a possible move for the the youngster.
Signed from Plymouth Argyle in 2012, the 6ft 4in striker has struggled to break through at Southampton, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, he may choose to move on.

It’s suggest that Southampton could demand around £3million in compensation for Gallagher should he choose to leave, and Sunderland’s scouting checks suggest that Moyes is very much planning a move.
Sunderland have been relying too much on Jermain Defoe, and with their top goalscorer well into his 30’s, a younger striker should be targeted this summer – and Gallagher fits the bill having impressed in the Championship, meaning he would be a smart signing whether the Black Cats stay up or not.
