Ivan Juric will not be replacing David Moyes at West Ham United any time soon with L’Arena reporting that the Croatian coach is set to sign a new contract with Hellas Verona instead.
While an experienced Scot has struggled at times to get a tune out of a talented and expensively assembled Hammers squad who are still in the midst of a relegation battle, the complete opposite is true of Juric and Hellas.
The Mastiffs were only promoted to Serie A last year but, sitting eighth after 30 matchdays and beating Juventus along the way, there is a very real chance that Hellas will be playing European football in 2020/21.
And, according to L’Arena in May, Juric has caught the eye of West Ham co-owner David Sullivan thanks to his high-octane, attacking football and a penchant for overachievement.
What’s more, the London giants were planning to make a move for the 44-year-old this summer – suggesting that Moyes’s second spell in charge would be as short as his first.
But Juric obviously feels that his Hellas project is a long way from completion.
L’Arena have provided an update today, saying that the former Genoa boss is set to sign a new two-year deal with an option for a third. He will get around £700,000 a year, or £13,000-a-week.
You’d imagine that West Ham would have offered Juric a far bigger contract, financially speaking anyway.
