David Moyes held talks with Tony Mowbray about a deal for Adam Armstrong as Blackburn Rovers accept that the West Ham United, Newcastle and Everton target may be ready to depart, as reported by LancsLive.
When it comes to this Tyneside-born 23-year-old, the phrase ‘if you don’t buy a ticket, you won’t win the raffle’ comes to mind.
No player in the Championship averages more shots per game than Armstrong (4.8). In fact, no one really comes close (WhoScored).
So it is no real surprise that some of those attempts have hit the net. With 17 strikes in 26 starts, only Ivan Toney has scored more times in 2020/21.
While Armstrong still has a lot of room for improvement, particularly regarding his decision-making in the final third, his sheer volume of goals have caught the eye of numerous top-flight clubs.
The Chronicle reports that Armstrong would be keen on a return to boyhood club Newcastle, three years after Rafa Benitez sold him for just £2 million.
Armstrong would cost a fair bit more than that these days, although LancsLive believe Blackburn would sell for less than the £25 million fee that has been mooted in various reports.

Moyes held talks with his Blackburn counterpart recently and, while Rovers accept that his future may lie away from Ewood Park, Mowbray believes that Armstrong is not ready for the Premier League just yet (LancsLive).
The former England U21 international is yet to extend a contract that expires in 2022.
