West Ham United boss David Moyes has formulated a plan to transform his side’s defence this summer, the Daily Mail report.
West Ham controversially sold Grady Diangana, as their owners looked to raise funds to invest in their squad.
Moyes had made strengthening their backline a priority, with a central defender right at the top of his wishlist.
West Ham are pushing hard to sign James Tarkowski from Burnley, but have had two bids turned down.
Once Moyes gets his hands on a centre-back, Moyes also wants two new full-backs.

That should be music to the ears of West Ham supporters, who have been left unconvinced by Aaron Cresswell and Ryan Fredericks.
The pair both came under fire last term, with West Ham having one of the worst defensive records in the whole of the Premier League.
Whether West Ham’s board will sanction deals for West Ham’s targets remains to be seen, but it does seem that Moyes wants almost an entirely new defence by the time the window closes.
