The Daily Mail has reported that in-form hitman Moussa Dembele has not intention of leaving Celtic in January, amid speculation linking him with Manchester United.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest young properties following a barnstorming start to life in Glasgow.
The Frenchman, a £500,000 signing from Fulham in the summer by Brendan Rodgers, has already netted 14 times in all competitions for Celtic – including three Champions League goals.
Dembele was on the scoresheet again this week after scoring twice in a France Under-21 victory against their English counterparts, but The Mail report that United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Arsenal all had scouts at the game watching him.
Given the calibre of clubs reportedly interested, fans of the Scottish champions could be forgiven for wishing their star man had endured something of a mare in Bondoufle on Monday night.
As predicted, it would seem like the Celtic marksman is attracting the wrong type of attention, at least from a Hoops perspective, but the good news is that the report goes on to suggest that the lad is “not keen” to quit the Parkhead club in January.
It also suggests that the Red Devils could make a move this winter if Memphis Depay ends up leaving Old Trafford, but leaving Paradise this early could be a mistake for the Celtic star.
He is clearly enjoying his football under Rodgers and, at 20, he still has a lot more improving to do – a worrying prospect for every side in Scotland.
