Tottenham Hotspur’s Mousa Dembele is set to leave the club.
According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has jetted out to China in order to complete his move to Beijing Guoan.
Spurs lost 1-0 at home to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, and lost a midfielder as Mousa Sissoko went off injured in the first half of the game.
That left some wondering whether Spurs were making a mistake letting Dembele leave the club, but his move to the Far East is moving closer.
For more than a week now, Dembele has been strongly linked with a move to Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan, with the deal set to be completed.
Dembele has flown out to China today according to Football.London, in order to put the finishing touches to his £11million switch, including a medical.
Dembele, 31, is understood to be keen on playing in a ‘less physical league’ in order to prolong his career, having struggled with his fitness in recent times.
The Belgian has been a fan favourite at Spurs since his 2012 move from Fulham, racking up nearly 250 appearances whilst scoring 10 goals for the club.
With just months left on his contract, Spurs clearly felt that they were betting off selling Dembele now for £11million rather than losing him for free, but leaves Spurs with a major hole to fill in midfield.
