Manchester United are reportedly moving for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Manchester United are making a late permanent offer for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma in an attempt to gazump Everton’s loan bid.
The Red Devils have endured a frustrating transfer window, as Jose Mourinho has only been able to bring in Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot and Fred, with few United fans happy with the business.
Mourinho is desperate to add a centre back before Thursday’s transfer deadline, and whilst links to Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld continue, a new name has entered the frame tonight.
French newspaper L’Equipe report that United are making a late bid to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, and hope to sign the Frenchman permanently in a move which may frustrate Everton.
Everton are attempting to sign Zouma on loan before the deadline, and it’s claimed that Chelsea are reluctant to let Zouma leave for a direct rival, which does give the Toffees something of an advantage.
Centre back Zouma, 23, was signed by now-United boss Mourinho at Chelsea in January 2013, but he wasn’t exactly a regular under Mourinho during his formative years.
Last year, the Frenchman went out on loan to Stoke City and missed just four Premier League games , but he couldn’t prevent the Potters from suffering relegation to the Championship.
Everton and United now appear to be in a straight fight for Zouma, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea decide to loan him out to an indirect rival, or take the money by selling him to Mourinho.
