According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move to sign Watford midfielder Will Hughes.

It’s claimed that Hughes has emerged as a target for Jose Mourinho following Watford’s relegation to the Championship.

Hughes would allegedly cost around £13million, but the likes of Juan Foyth, Serge Aurier and Danny Rose may need to go in order to raise funds.

The report notes that Hughes is seem as an appealing option because of his versatility across in midfield and his status as a homegrown player.

Hughes, 25, can play as a central midfielder either dictating play from deep or getting up and down the pitch, whilst he has even featured out wide at Watford.

Technically impressive and with a fine left foot, Hughes could offer a decent squad option at Tottenham with his ability to play in various roles.

The former Derby County man may well fancy a return to the Premier League, and he wouldn’t have to move given Watford’s proximity to North London.

Hughes is a tireless worker and isn’t afraid to get stuck in, attributes which Mourinho will love – and whilst he maybe isn’t the most exciting target, he does tick many boxes for Spurs.
