Jose Mourinho wants to sign Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka for Roma, Di Marzio report.
Xhaka’s future at Arsenal is uncertain heading into the summer, and Mourinho has reportedly now asked Roma’s board to land him.
The Italian side are said to have green-lighted Mourinho’s plans, with negotiations now underway for the player between the two sides.
Arsenal are believed to want around £21 million for the 28-year-old.
That would mean making a £14 million loss on the player, who they signed in 2016 for £35 million (BBC Sport).
Mourinho knows Xhaka well, having come up against him multiple times, and he could help to bolster Roma’s midfield for next term.
Impact for Arsenal?
Arsenal may feel that the time has come to cash in on their former captain too.

Mikel Arteta has made no secret of his desire to freshen up his squad this summer, and the funds raised from Xhaka’s sale could help him bring in new players.
Xhaka, who was described as ‘extraordinary’ by Unai Emery (Football London), has been a key player throughout Arteta’s time in charge though, and even played at left-back recently, as Arsenal wanted him in their line-up.
He is one of the most natural leaders in the group, and his absence would surely be felt if he was to depart.
That being said, there is a feeling that Thomas Partey needs more creativity and mobility around him, and if Xhaka is to leave, a more energetic replacement could be sought after.
