Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has reportedly made Everton striker, Romelu Lukaku, his top priority for the summer transfer window.

The Belgian striker has scored 24 Premier League goals this season, and has expressed his desire to leave the Merseyside club.

Everton do not want their star player to leave cheaply, and have slapped a £100 million price tag on his shoulders.

Mourinho sees Lukaku as the long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who may not stay at the club next season.

The Portuguese sold Lukaku to Everton for £28 million in 2014 during his stint with Chelsea, but he is now ready to sign him for United.

According to reports from The Daily Mail, the Red Devils are not willing to pay the amount demanded by Everton for Lukaku. Instead, they may propose a sensational swap deal that would see Wayne Rooney return to his old club.

United reportedly value their record goalscorer at £17 million, however Everton are reluctant to pay more than £10m for the 31-year-old.

However, Rooney will have to take a £100,000-a-week pay cut if he returns to his boyhood club.

The report suggests that Rooney wants to leave United on his own terms, and will only accept being a makeweight if the offer is right.

While a return to Everton could appeal to the England striker, Rooney probably will get more lucrative options in China and America’s Major League Soccer.
