According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a bid to sign Eintracht Frankfurt target man Bas Dost.

It’s claimed that Dost has been identified as the hard-working striker that Jose Mourinho wants having complained of laziness in his squad.

Frankfurt would allegedly sell Dost for £5.5million – taking a £1million loss on the fee they paid to sign him from Sporting in 2019.

Tottenham allegedly wanted to sign Dost two years ago but couldn’t sign him, and may now have the chance to do it.

Dost, 31, has hit 11 goals and three assists in 31 games for Frankfurt, and could fit the bill as a physical striker for Spurs to bring off the bench.

A Dutch international, Dost smashed 93 goals in 127 games for Sporting, showing that he at least has a strong goalscoring record in recent times.

His age may leave some Spurs fans a little underwhelmed, as it smacks of being another Fernando Llorente-type signing.

Dost is just one of a host of strikers Spurs are allegedly targeting, but his bargain price tag will certainly make him appealing.
