It’s been a very underwhelming return to Tottenham Hotspur for Gareth Bale so far.
In perhaps the biggest transfer of last summer’s transfer window, Bale re-signed for Spurs on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.
But fast forward four months and the 31-year-old is nowhere near the player who secured an £86 million switch to the Spanish capital – a world record at the time – back in 2013.
So far, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has only given Bale 160 minutes of Premier League football across four appearance.
Considering he’s averaging just 40 minutes per game in the top flight, it’s fair to say that things haven’t worked out for the Wales international just yet.
But The Times has reported that Mourinho is expecting much more to come from Bale between now and the end of his loan in North London.
The report adds that chairman Daniel Levy is unconvinced by the player and has no plans to keep him at the club beyond the end of his temporary agreement, at this moment in time.
With a second season not being considered by the Lilywhites, Bale, who does want to play more according to the report, has a lot to do if he has designs on staying with Mourinho’s side.
