Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho believes that he can get Gareth Bale back to his best in North London, El Espanol report.

Tottenham are once again being linked with the Welsh winger, with reports from Spain suggesting that a return to Spurs is a possibility again.

Bale has fallen further and further out of favour in Madrid, and it seems that he has gone past the point of no return with Zinedine Zidane now.

While the noises from Bale’s camp are that he is happy to run his contract down in Madrid, there are now suggestions that Tottenham could try and bring him back to England this summer.

The rumours are likely to be treated with huge scepticism from Tottenham fans – as Bale’s return has been rumoured almost every transfer window for a number of years now.

However, Cuatro in Spain reported less than 24 hours ago that Bale wanted to return to Tottenham, and El Espanol have now backed up that report, which suggests the links are gathering momentum.

El Espanol claim that Mourinho would welcome Bale back with ‘open arms’ and that the Spurs boss is convinced he could get the 31-year-old back to his best.

Bale’s recent actions in Madrid have gone down poorly, with BBC Sport reporting how he was called ‘disrespectful’ by the Spanish press late last year, and it is easy to see why a return back to the place where he is loved could appeal.

If Bale was to arrive and start putting in performances of the quality during his last spell at Tottenham, he is the sort of signing who could make Spurs a real force in the Premier League again.

But with Tottenham facing budgetary restrictions this summer, the deal is likely to depend on Bale taking a massive pay cut, or Madrid subsidising most his wages in a loan bid.
