According to a report, Jack Clarke will stay at Tottenham Hotspur this season.

The 19-year-old winger joined Spurs from Leeds United in a £10 million deal last summer, but it was a horrendous first year on their books.

Clarke re-signed for Leeds on a season-long loan immediately but managed just the one Championship appearance under Marcelo Bielsa before Tottenham pulled the plug midway through the agreement.

The Lilywhites then sent him on loan to QPR in January but the youngster failed to start a league game under Mark Warburton.

Clarke was tentatively linked with another loan move away this past summer.

But according to Football London, Jose Mourinho will be keeping him in North London.

The report adds that Mourinho has been very impressed by the former Leeds starlet, due to his fitness, talent and high-energy levels, and that the club want Gareth Bale to mentor him.

Bale, like Clarke, is a left-sided winger and one has who has four Champions League titles under his belt, making him perhaps the perfect teacher to learn from after the Welshman returned on loan from Real Madrid last month.

It hasn’t been a great start to life as a Tottenham player for Clarke but, at 19, he still has so much time to make it work.

And learning from figures like Bale and Mourinho at Hotspur Way on a daily basis could be just what the doctor ordered.
