According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to step up their interest in signing Middlesbrough right back Djed Spence.

It’s claimed that Spurs, alongside Brighton and West Ham United, are all ready to ramp up their interest in signing Spence.

Boro want around £10million for Spence, after boss Neil Warnock compared him to Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Manchester United ace Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Burnley, Sheffield United and Southampton are also thought to be keen on Spence, and Boro allegedly fear losing him this summer despite only handing him a new deal in February.

It’s Tottenham who seem most keen. Boss Jose Mourinho is thought to be a huge fan of Spence, and that goes back to his time at Fulham.

His son Jose Jr played alongside Spence at Fulham, and allegedly gave the Tottenham boss ‘positive reports’ about the right back.

In January, Mourinho was seen speaking to Spence after Tottenham drew with Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, so it’s no surprise to see Spurs being linked so strongly.

Kyle Walker-Peters seems likely to move on this summer, and 19-year-old Spence would make sense as competition for Serge Aurier whilst having the potential to be Tottenham’s long-term answer in that position.
