Manchester United are reportedly keen on West Ham’s Dimitri Payet.
West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet
According to The Mirror, Manchester United are interested in a blockbuster deal for West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet.
The Red Devils have a number of attacking midfield players, but Jose Mourinho has chopped and changed between the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard.
Mourinho doesn’t appear to be completely set on any of them, and The Mirror now claim that he wants to bring in another winger in 2017, with West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet believed to be his top target.
Payet, 29, became one of the Premier League’s superstars last season, racking up nine goals and 12 assists before starring for France at Euro 2016, helping Didier Deschamps’ side reach the final of the competition.

The midfielder – who tends to play on the left or as a No. 10 – has made a slower start to the season though, notching one goal and four assists in ten Premier League appearances this season, and some are suggesting that he could be angling for a move away from the club.
Now, it’s claimed that United are keen on a blockbuster move for Payet in 2017, though West Ham are likely to resist a January deal for the Frenchman, and will demand a £35m transfer fee to let him go next year.

Payet allegedly earns £125,000-a-week, and United can certainly afford that, whilst linking up with his French international team-mates Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial could be appealing to Payet.
Whether it’s a great idea for United to spend so much money on a player approaching 30 is another matter, but Payet will be looking for a return to European competition in the near future, and with West Ham struggling this season, a move to Old Trafford could hand him that.
