According to The Sun, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to sell Morgan Schneiderlin – less than two months after he allegedly blocked him from joining Tottenham.

Schneiderlin, 26, joined United back in the summer of 2015 having starred with Southampton, but he’s found life at Old Trafford much more difficult.

The Frenchman may have played a role under Louis van Gaal with 29 Premier League appearances to his name last season, but new boss Jose Mourinho has used him only once in the league this term.

Now, The Sun report that Mourinho wants to sell Schneiderlin in January, with the midfielder currently behind the likes of Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba in the pecking order.

It’s something of a fall from grace for Schneiderlin, who was such a key player and one of the Premier League’s top midfielders with Southampton, and it’s also a turnaround from Mourinho.

The Daily Mail reported on deadline day back in August that Mourinho blocked Schneiderlin from joining Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but it was claimed that Spurs would keep tabs on Schneiderlin’s playing time with a view to a January move.

If Mourinho does look to sell Schneiderlin in January, Spurs are bound to be interested, given that manager Mauricio Pochettino worked with Schneiderlin at Southampton with great success.

Spurs don’t necessarily need another midfielder, given that Pochettino already has Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama at his disposal, but Schnederlin would add even more depth to the Tottenham squad.

A calm and composed midfielder who loves a tackle too, Schneiderlin was targeted by Spurs when Pochettino left Southampton for White Hart Lane in 2014 (BBC Sport), but ultimately missed out and signed flop Benjamin Stambouli instead.

The latest development on Schneiderlin’s future gives Pochettino the perfect opportunity to finally reunite with the midfielder, with Tottenham looking to build a deep squad that can challenge for the Premier League title for years to come.
