Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose is reportedly a target for Manchester United again.
According to a report from The Independent, Manchester United have renewed their interest in Tottenham Hotspur star Danny Rose as they have grown frustrated in their pursuit of both Gareth Bale and Ivan Perisic.
The Red Devils have made three big signings this summer, as Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku have been added to bring real power and strength to United’s spine.
However, Mourinho remains keen on more additions, and a left-sided winger has been a priority throughout the summer, but attempts to land key targets have so far failed to reap rewards.
The Independent report that United have grown frustrated in their attempts to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale and Inter Milan ace Ivan Perisic, so are now turning their attention to Tottenham star Danny Rose.
Not only can Rose play at left back or on the left of midfield – two problem areas for United – but he is also comfortable at left wing back, with Mourinho believed to be considering playing three centre backs with attacking wing backs on a more regular basis this season.
Rose fits the bill, and whilst it’s suggested that Tottenham wouldn’t want to sell having already lost right back Kyle Walker to Manchester City this summer, United allegedly believe that chairman Daniel Levy could be tempted into a deal as every Spurs player has his price, and United could offer big money as Spurs balance paying for a new stadium with building a squad.
Rose, 27, has been one of the main success stories from Mauricio Pochettino’s reign as Spurs manager, evolving from an inconsistent left back with poor defensive ability into a rampaging left wing back whose pace and end product has become key to Tottenham’s style of play.
Realistically, a deal this close to the transfer deadline seems unthinkable, and Spurs would almost certainly be looking to charge over £50million for Rose, meaning United may have to pull off something special to get a deal done this summer.
