According to a report from The Telegraph, Manchester United are cooling their interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur left back Danny Rose ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are set to fall some way short of Premier League champions-elect Manchester City this season, and manager Jose Mourinho may well be looking for major reinforcements this summer.
A new left back is seemingly on United’s radar, despite the fact that Ashley Young has impressed there this season and Luke Shaw has even turned in some promising displays there of late, when his Red Devils career appeared to be over.
However, The Telegraph now claim that United and Mourinho have started to cool their interest in Tottenham ace Danny Rose, despite strong speculation surrounding a possible move for the England international over the last year.
Rose’s 2017 costing him a move?
Whilst the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Harry Kane have been key to Tottenham’s success under Mauricio Pochettino, it’s fair to say that Rose’s pace and attacking ability was vital at left wing back.
However, the 27-year-old endured a fairly dismal 2017 in many aspects, and that annus horribilis for the former Leeds man may just cost him a switch to Old Trafford.
January 2017 saw Rose suffer a major knee injury, which kept him out for around nine months, and he then told The Sun in August that he felt Spurs needed to pay him what he’s worth and he would fancy a move back up north.
Add in that Rose hasn’t been able to re-establish himself as Tottenham’s first-choice left back ahead of Ben Davies, and not only could Rose now miss out on a move to Manchester United, but he could also be left to sit on the sidelines at Spurs.
