According to The Mirror, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants to bring Seamus Coleman to Old Trafford in January.

The Red Devils boosted their central defensive options by snapping up Eric Bailly over the summer, whilst Luke Shaw and Daley Blind form strong competition at left back.

At right back, Matteo Darmian is out of favour and looks to be heading towards the exit door in January, meaning that Mourinho may look to bring in another right back to compete with Antonio Valencia.

Now, The Mirror report that Mourinho wants to raid Everton, with Seamus Coleman his target – three years after United tried to land the Republic of Ireland international under David Moyes.

It’s claimed that Mourinho has personally asked executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to secure a deal for Coleman in January, with a £16m fee suggested.

An attack-minded right back with plenty of Premier League appearances, Coleman has proven to be a major bargain for Everton since joining them from Sligo Rovers back in 2009.

Coleman would certainly be a great signing at right back for United whilst they develop youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah, but they may find it tough to strike a deal with Everton.

The Toffees lost defender John Stones to Manchester City over the summer, and manager Ronald Koeman is believed to be reluctant to let another defender go to a Premier League rival, meaning United face a real battle to land Mourinho’s top target.
