Rangers flop Michael O’Halloran could be set to leave Ibrox.
According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers forward Michael O’Halloran is set to leave the club this summer, with Motherwell and St Johnstone battling for his signature.
O’Halloran, 27, was on the books of Celtic and Bolton Wanderers before impressing with St Johnstone, where his fine form earned him a January 2016 move to Rangers.
One of Mark Warburton’s most expensive signings for Rangers, O’Halloran was seen as the extra cutting edge and burst of pace Rangers needed, but he has failed to settle at Ibrox.
The Glasgow-born attacker has played just 38 games for Rangers, scoring only three goals in what has been a miserable spell for the Scot, and the writing has been on the wall for some time.
O’Halloran spent the first half of last season back on loan at St Johnstone, only to be recalled by Rangers after five goals in 17 games, but his only appearance for the Gers came as a late substitute against Hearts in April.
It’s clear that O’Halloran isn’t particularly valued at Ibrox, and The Scottish Sun now report that he looks to be on his way, with Scottish rivals Motherwell and St Johnstone both keen to land him.
Motherwell are still looking for attacking firepower after selling Louis Moult to Preston North End in January, and believe that O’Halloran can bring the pace to support Curtis Main and Ryan Bowman.
St Johnstone are hoping to bring O’Halloran back for a third spell at McDiarmid Park, and Rangers are unlikely to put up too much of a fight to keep the misfit this summer.
