According to the Daily Star, Everton are interested in landing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as a replacement for Sam Allardyce this summer.
The Toffees lost 2-1 at Burnley to continue their dismal start to 2018, having won just twice in all competitions, piling the pressure on manager Allardyce.
Despite only arriving in November, Allardyce could lose his job this summer, and Everton are now being linked with a stunning move to keep Wenger in the Premier League.
The 68-year-old is enduring a nightmare with the Gunners, and Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion means that Arsenal fans are desperate to see Wenger’s 22-year reign end this summer.
Moshiri pulling the strings
The likes of Marco Silva, Paulo Fonseca and Mikel Arteta have already been touted for the job, but Wenger may be a leading choice for majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
Moshiri was a shareholder at Arsenal for a number of years, and pursuing a deal for Wenger may give the Everton man something of a reunion at Goodison Park.
The Frenchman has built a number of successful sides over the years for Arsenal, but his time with the North London club appears to be coming to an end.
