Stoke City’s Moritz Bauer has decided to leave the club this summer, according to a report from the Stoke Sentinel.

The Austrian ace showed real promise after joining from Rubin Kazan in January 2018, impressing fans with his pace and tenacity up the right flank.

However, Bauer struggled for playing time under Gary Rowett and hasn’t proven himself to Nathan Jones either, meaning a summer move is on the cards.

A number of clubs will be keen on the 27-year-old, and one team linked with him last summer were Celtic, and there is certainly still a place for him at Parkhead.

The Daily Mail reported that Brendan Rodgers wanted to lure Bauer to Celtic, but no deal materialised between the two clubs before the summer deadline.

Rodgers did land Jeremy Toljan on loan in January, but he isn’t the answer at right back, and veterans Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa are both out of contract this summer.

Celtic need at least one, possibly two right backs this summer, and with Bauer clearly available, he should still be on the Bhoys radar ahead of next term.

Of course, it’s Neil Lennon in charge rather than Rodgers, but Bauer will be desperate to move on, and would bring international and Premier League experience to Parkhead.

The ship may well have sailed on Bauer after Rodgers’ Celtic exit, but with the Bhoys needing right backs, Lennon should still have an eye on the Stoke man in an attempt to rekindle his career.
