According to L’Equipe and Foot-Sur 7, Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson is aiming higher than Crystal Palace and West Ham United having joined forces with Pini Zahavi.

Marseille may be in next season’s Champions League, but they still need to sell this summer. They are seemingly in perpetual financial problems, and some players may be offloaded.

One player who could be sacrificed is Sanson. The midfielder is wanted by Crystal Palace and West Ham, but he instead wants to join a team playing in Europe.

He has recently brought in Zahavi as his new agent, with the aim of landing a big move. Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton are being targeted, with Sanson viewing them as above West Ham.

The 25-year-old is a classy ball-playing midfielder, and he has racked up 23 goals and 19 assists in 137 games since joining Marseille in 2017.

The influence of Zahavi is very interesting. Sky Sports claimed back in November that it was Zahavi who brokered the deal for Jose Mourinho to become Tottenham boss.

The Israeli agent appears to have links at Spurs, so it’s no great surprise to see Tottenham being targeted as a potential destination for Sanson.

Spurs do need a new midfielder this summer, but whether they will have the cash to tempt Marseille into a deal remains to be seen after the global pandemic.

It’s important to note that, as things stand, Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton will all miss out on European football, so Sanson’s big wish wouldn’t exactly be fulfilled.
