According to journalist Miguel Delaney’s Reading the Game newsletter in The Independent, Mohamed Salah would like to move to Real Madrid after he leaves Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Liverpool forward Salah’s dream is to play in La Liga, preferably European giants Madrid.

Real Madrid beat Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final last month.

Salah talked about taking revenge on Madrid before the game for Liverpool’s defeat in the final to Los Blancos in 2018.

The 29-year-old has said that he will stay at Liverpool until next summer when his current contract runs out.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah’s Real Madrid stance

Delaney wrote in his Reading the Game newsletter in The Independent (12pm, June 3, 2022): “Liverpool have no major plans for their forward line this summer, despite new uncertainty after the Champions League final.

“Sadio Mane is almost certain to go to Bayern Munich, while Mohamed Salah has caused so many ripples by only going as far as saying he will definitely stay for another year.

“There is a new belief around the Egyptian that his main choice is to remain at Anfield, but that all depends on the offer, and his statement was as much an indication of his availability.

“News that he would be open to another Premier League move is true, but sources close to the player still insist a dream is to plan in Spain, preferably Real Madrid.”

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, it is unlikely that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will end up at Real Madrid next summer.

Yes, Salah is one of the best forward players in the world, but he is 29 now.

In a few days’ time, the Egyptian will turn 30.

Yes, the former Chelsea attacker will become a free agent in the summer of 2023, but he will also be 31 next summer.

Would Madrid be willing to pay a huge salary to a 31-year-old attacking player in a year’s time?
