According to The Athletic, Mohamed Salah is wondering why his contract negotiations at Liverpool are different to those of Kevin de Bruyne.
What’s the story?
Well, Salah appears to be looking at Manchester City with envy.
The Athletic outline how the £34m man saw how quickly the Citizens sorted out a new contract for De Bruyne, and wonders why it has not been the same for him.
Interestingly, the Belgium international is a year older than Salah, and has also missed 65 games through injury since joining from VfL Wolfsburg.
In the Egypt international’s case, he’s only ever missed three games for Liverpool – one due to COVID-19.
The Athletic add that Salah feels he’s yet to reach his prime, but Liverpool are reluctant to pay him what he feels he’s worth in fear of disrupting the club’s wage structure.
What are Liverpool thinking with Mohamed Salah?

We cannot believe Liverpool are making this as difficult as it is.
Salah has scored 133 goals for the Reds in 211 games, and is getting better with each passing game – even at 29.
The ex-Chelsea man scored 31 goals last season as well to almost single-handedly fire Liverpool to Champions League qualification.
The Athletic do not specify what his wage demands are, but that’s irrelevant – whatever they are, Liverpool should agree to them.

We understand concerns about the wage structure, but surely nobody at Liverpool would argue against Salah being handed a huge contract.
He is Liverpool’s talisman, and his teammates surely know he’s among the top five players in Europe – that much is obvious.
If any Liverpool player kicked up a fuss about Salah being handed millions for his efforts, they’d be a fool.
The Reds must ignore concerns over the wage structure and come to their senses – there’s no replacing a player like Salah.
