Lucas Torreira might be looking to leave Arsenal this summer, a report has suggested.

It was reported on Thursday that Italian outfit Torino were looking to bring the Uruguay international back to Serie A.

But Torreira, signed by former Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat from Sampdoria in 2018, is now on other clubs’ radars.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid are looking at the South American midfielder.

The report adds that Torreira – who’s been a fringe player for the Gunners in recent months since returning from injury – has told the North London clubs’ hierarchy that he wants to go.

It also claims that Fiorentina is the more likely option due to the fact that Atleti boss Diego Simeone wouldn’t be able to guarantee him regular football.

Arsenal spent £27 million on bringing in Torreira and it seems unlikely that the club would accept a loss on that investment.

He had a brilliant first season at the Emirates under Unai Emery, but an ankle injury in March of this year saw him slip down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order.

And given that he played little role in Arsenal’s FA Cup journey, the Spanish coach might be okay with him leaving.
