Well, the Liverpool transfer news is beginning to warm up.

From Cody Gakpo to Jude Bellingham, the Reds are being linked with a number of players ahead of the January transfer window.

However, some players are also likely to be leaving Anfield.

Come January, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita will be six months away from leaving Merseyside on free contracts.

And according to Calciomercato, AC Milan are keen on the Liverpool duo.

The report states that the Italian champions are interested in bringing the pair to Milan next summer as free agents, rather than January.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp labelled Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain as ‘very valuable’ in August of 2021 [YouTube] but neither are currently major players for the German manager.

He said at the time: “Obviously very valuable! It’s all about being available and using the momentum, that’s football. It doesn’t make you a worse player. Without luck in life, you are really on the wrong side of a lot of things.

Keita hasn’t kicked a ball in any competition this season due to injury and the former Arsenal winger – a £40 million signing in 2017 [Guardian] – has also been on the sidelines quite a lot during his five-year spell at Anfield.

However, Liverpool don’t have the luxury of offloading midfielders in January.

This has been a real problem area for Klopp all season long and although Oxlade-Chamberlain, in particular, will have offers to leave this winter due to the fact he’s currently fit, it seems unlikely that any cut-price deal will be accepted.

Milan snapped up Divock Origi on a free transfer this past summer, too.
