A report from Italian newspaper La Repubblica claim Tottenham and Brighton managers Antonio Conte and Roberto De Zerbi are contenders to take over at Milan at the end of the season – as Milan consider Stefano Pioli’s position.

Pioli won Serie A last season – their first League title since 2011-12. But this season, things have not gone to plan as much. Napoli are blowing the Italian league away under boss Luciano Spalletti, sitting 13 points clear of Inter Milan.

Milan sit in a lowly sixth position in Serie A, winless after seven games in all competitions. They won their first game back after the World Cup break on January 4, but have since picked up three draws and four losses in their last seven.

Knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Torino at home, before losing the Italian SuperCup to bitter rivals Inter 3-0. The pressure, despite last season’s incredible achievement of winning the League title, is ramping up on manager Pioli.

La Repubblica claim Milan are drawing up shortlists to replace Pioli. Indeed, that list includes a surprise move to raid Tottenham for Conte in what would be a surprise move – given his Juve and Inter past. De Zerbi is also an option.

Tottenham, Brighton managers Conte and De Zerbi are Milan contenders

As stated, a move to Milan for Conte would be a shock. Spurs take on Milan in knockout rounds of the Champions League in a week. But not only that, Milan are hardly an improvement on Spurs at the moment. He managed Inter.

Of course, there are examples of players swapping Milan for Inter – Mario Balotelli, Hakan Calhanoglu. But it would be surprising to see Conte move to Milan. De Zerbi is much more viable, but if he gets Brighton into Europe – he may stay.
