According to a report from The Mirror, Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka is a doubt for Wednesday’s game against Manchester City.
The Swiss international has been one of the first names on the team sheet for the Gunners under Arteta.
Xhaka was expected to start again against the defending Premier League champions but it might not be the case.
The report claims that Xhaka was absent from training on Tuesday due to an injury that he has been struggling with.
The midfielder did not start either of Arsenal’s friendlies against West Brom and Brentford which is a serious cause for concern.
Lucas Torreira is unlikely to be match fit which means that Arteta will have to count on Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock or Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the heart of the midfield next to Dani Ceballos.

Xhaka was one of the biggest reasons why Bukayo Saka thrived in his unnatural left-back position. But with Kieran Tierney back, Arteta has one less headache in that position but the Swiss star will still be a miss.
The report says that Xhaka trained all week except on Tuesday and Arteta counts on him being fit. However, him missing the final training session could change things and the Arsenal boss could decide against risking him from the start on Wednesday.
