Newcastle United signed Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United on January transfer deadline day.

As reported by BBC Sport, Newcastle paid Atlanta United a transfer fee of £20 million to secure the services of Almiron on January transfer deadline day.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder is the most expensive player in the Magpies’ history, according to the report.
The Daily Mail has claimed that Newcastle owner Ashley personally saw to that the club could sign the Paraguay international and used his contacts in the USA to seal the deal.

Good signing for Newcastle United?
Almiron has a strong reputation in the USA, and the Paraguay international will be a good long-term signing for Newcastle.
It could take a while for the former Lanus star to get used to the Premier League and to develop an understanding with his Newcastle teammates, but the 24-year-old is very creative and has a lot of potential.
According to WhoScored, Almiron scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 Major League Soccer games for Atlanta this season before his move to Newcastle.
