Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has decided to put takeover talk on hold the Telegraph report, after the news that Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron are set to be out until April.
If any Newcastle fans were asked for the two players they would most fear getting injured at such a crucial stage of the season, it seems that Saint-Maximin and Almiron would feature fairly prominently.
However, the worst case scenario has become reality at Newcastle – which dents their chances of survival.
Ashley has immediately reacted by curbing any takeover talk until Newcastle’s divisional status is secure.
At the moment the Magpies are hovering above the relegation zone, but with Fulham in good form there a real concerns that they could get dragged into the bottom three.

Ashley is now not even said to be thinking about potential buyers, as he knows that a relegation would be disastrous for Newcastle’s value.
If the Magpies are to avoid the drop they are likely to need a fair few more victories between now and the end of the season.
Newcastle are next in action against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, in what looks like a huge fixture for both clubs.
