Report: Mike Ashley has not lowered asking price for Newcastle United

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is said to still be looking for over £400 million.

According to the Telegraph, Mike Ashley is still looking for over £400 million if he is to sell Newcastle United, despite reports to the contrary recently.

The Times has suggested that Ashley has lowered his asking price for Newcastle, with interest mounting in the North East club.

However, Telegraph Sport says that those reports are wide of the mark – with Ashley standing firm over his valuation.

Newcastle are now the subject of interest from Amanda Staveley, who was spotted at the Magpies’ last home match.

At this stage, Staveley’s interest is still at an early stage, and there is much work to do before a bid is submitted.

Staveley is said to have an interest in another two Premier League clubs, as well as Newcastle.

However, that has not stopped excitement building on Tyneside, with most Newcastle fans keen to see Ashley bought out by a new potential owner as soon as possible.
