Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is now prepared to accept staggered payments, which was previously a big issue.
When Amanda Staveley was looking to buy Newcastle at the start of the year, Ashley insisted that the full payment was made up-front.
In the end, Ashley’s demands were one of the reasons why the deal for Newcastle collapsed, with Staveley walking away.
However, the Magpies owner is said to be more willing to take a staggered deal for the club now, as Newcastle edge closer to finding a new buyer.
Peter Kenyon is believed to be the front runner to take over at St. James’ Park, with a £300 million deal agreed in principle.
Kenyon may look to pay in monthly instalments, rather than as a lump sum, and although Ashley doesn’t view this is ideal, he is now open to the idea.
Newcastle are now hoping that the takeover will go through quickly, as Rafael Benitez is still lining up transfers for the January window, in the hope of bringing more quality to St. James’ Park.
