According to The Daily Record, Mikael Lustig is leaving Celtic and will join Belgian club KAA Gent in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the Sweden international defender is due in Gent today to undergo a medical with the Belgian outfit.

The report has also claimed that Celtic have not handed the 32-year-old right-back a contract extension.

The Daily Record has reported that the defender had offers from AIK Stockholm and Malmo, but he is moving to KAA Gent instead.

Celtic exit

Lustig has been superb for Celtic over the years and will leave the Glasgow giants as a huge success, having won the league title eight times, and the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup four times each.

The right-back, though, has made mistakes in matches recent times, and there have been signs that he is slowing down.

It will be interesting to see how the Hoops replace Lustig. Perhaps they will bring a new, young and energetic right-back to Celtic Park to be at the club for years to come.
